Balderton Capital Raises $1.3Bn for European Start-Ups

UK-based Balderton, which has backed artificial intelligence start-up Wayve and Royal Match developer Dream Games, closed a $615mn early-stage fund and a $685mn fund for “growth” investing in more mature start-ups, reflecting “growing interest in European tech”, according to managing partner Bernard Liautaud.
Since its founding in 2000, Balderton has invested in more than 275 technology companies from across Europe. The current portfolio includes global category leaders like Revolut, Dream Games, GoCardless, Contentful, Aircall, Wayve, Writer and PhotoRoom. Many previous portfolio companies have successfully exited, such as Darktrace, Depop, MySQL, Peakon, Recorded Future, Talend and THG. Balderton’s investment history spans technology sectors including AI, fintech, B2B SaaS, digital health, mobility, gaming and marketplaces.
Besides funding, the London-based VC offers hands-on support from its experienced investment team and a range of services to its founders and portfolio companies, including the Balderton Platform team, Executives in Residence, and a community of over 700 leading European technology executives.

Lucid Motors to get additional $1.5 Bln from Saudi Arabia Fund

The announcement came as Lucid released its second-quarter earnings. Revenue increased by a third from a year ago to $200mn in the three months to June 30, while deliveries grew to 2,394 cars, a 71 % jump from the same period in 2023. Rawlinson said it remained on track to produce 9,000 vehicles this year. By comparison, Tesla delivered 443,956 vehicles in the second quarter.
