Scientists at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden have developed a transparent wood that could change how we build.

They created it by removing lignin, the component that gives wood its color, and filling the structure with a transparent polymer.

The result is a material that transmits light like glass but is lighter, stronger, and biodegradable.

It also provides better thermal insulation, which could reduce energy use in buildings by up to one-third.
